ECLOF Kenya has launched the innovative Tuongee Forum to enhance the capabilities of the local community beyond mere financial assistance. Tuongee, which means “let’s talk” in Swahili, perfectly captures the essence of these forums.
These forums bring together local community members and clients to engage in open discussion on topics such as business management, income diversification, responsible financing, and resilience building. As a direct response to the dialogues from these forums, ECLOF developed the “Bridge” product, designed to assist clients severely affected by harsh economic conditions.
By the end of 2024, its is expected that 10,000 people will have participated in the forums. To date, 1,750 Bridge loans, worth approximately 171 million shillings, have been disbursed—benefiting 909 women and 841 men. Through this pioneering model, ECLOF in Kenya empowers individuals to improve their quality of life by taking control of their financial well-being and preparing for unforeseen events.
