ECLOF Brazil
In Brazil, the ECLOF member is known as ABOMCRED (Associação Baiana de Organizações de Microcrédito), a network of four microfinance institutions in the state of Bahia. All four are registered as non-regulated microfinance institutions (OSCIP), i.e. NGOs authorized to carry out productive micro-credit activities. They are:-
- CEADE (Centro Ecumênico de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento) is the original ECLOF member in Brazil, founded in 1984. CEADE serves clients in the city of Salvador and surrounding rural areas with loans and non-financial services.
- CEAPE (Centro da Apoio aos Pequenos Empredimentos do Estado da Bahía) provides microcredit aimed at the growth of micro and small businesses and improving the quality of life of entrepreneurs and their communities in Feira de Santana and the surrounding areas. CEAPE was founded in 1994 by FENAPE (National Federation for the support of Small Enterprises), UNICEF Brazil, BNDS (Brazilian National Economic and Social Development Bank), IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), SEBRAE (Brazilian Service for the Support of Small and Micro Enterprises) and other partners.
- ICC Conquista (Instituição Comunitária de Crédito Conquista Solidária) targets clients in Vitória da Conquista and adjacent regions with the aim of generating employment and income. ICC Conquista was founded in 1999 by the City of Vitória da Conquista, the Chamber of Shopkeepers, Bankers Union, SEBRAE (Brazilian Service for the Support of Small and Micro Enterprises), the Agro-industrial Association of Simão and Campinhos, the Micro-entrepreneurs Association of Vitória da conquista, Christian family movement (MFC), and the Foundation for the Support of Needy Minors (FAMEC).
- ICC Itabuna (Instituição Comunitária de Crédito Itabuna Solidária) aims to improve the quality of life of micro and small entrepreneurs in Itabuna and surrounding areas, by granting them access to microcredit. ICC Itabuna was founded in 2001 by Itabuna’s Commercial Association and its Small and Micro Business Association, Itabuna City Hall, the Chamber of Shopkeepers, the Federation of Organizations for Social and Educational Assistance (FASE), Teosópolis Baptist Church, SEBRAE (Brazilian Service for the Support of Small and Micro Enterprises), Bankers Union, Union of Accountants and Accounting Technicians of Southern Bahia (SINDCONTASUL) and Union of Federal Public Service Workers (SINTSEF / South).
