Juana Collaguazo, a business woman from Calderon, north of Quito, has turned her passion for raising pigs into a thriving business. In 2017, Juana obtained her first loan of 500 dollars from ECLOF Ecuador as a member of the Collaguazo Family Solidarity Group. The other members of the Group guaranteed her loan while she stood in for their loans in return. The system is based on trust and mutual support. Juana explains, “ECLOF even assigned me a credit advisor who helped me prepare my business plan and submit my credit application. Within a few days, my loan was approved, and I was able to start my own business.”
Today, she runs a piggery with a dozen pigs, selling them in the local market. Juana proudly shares, “My business has been a success thanks to my dedication and that of ECLOF Ecuador.” Juana has received seven consecutive loans, reaching up to 2,000 dollars, and she meets every repayment on time.
With her husband abroad providing minimal support, Juana has managed to fund her three children’s university education through her business. Part of her loans has also gone towards improving her home.
Juana Collaguazo’s story is an inspiring illustration of how fair credit can empower individuals to pursue and achieve their dreams. With the backing of ECLOF Ecuador’s loans, Juana has successfully transformed her idea into a thriving and productive business.
