Job title: Regional Consultant – Asia
Reports to:ECLOF International Managing Director
Job purpose:ECLOF International (EI) is a Swiss foundation in Geneva that serves as the hub for a network of 14 microfinance institutions (network members) in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. To assist the network members in the areas of strategy, operations, impact and social performance, governance, fundraising and other issues, we seek to contract a regionally based Consultant, on a flexible needs’ basis, to provide, among others, the following services to the network members and assist ECLOF International in its work overseeing the network members:

  • Strategic advice on the financial and social performance of the EI Member countries in Asia.
  • Maintaining high impact relationships with the country Executive Directors and assisting them in developing relationships with investors and donors in Asia.
  • Supporting the countries in the identification and securing of funding for both technical assistance and loan funding needs.
  • Delivering and supporting the countries in the strengthening of internal capacity in line with best microfinance practice.
  • Working in tandem with the ECLOF International team to identify and deliver policies, procedures, systems, training etc which may be replicable across the network.
  • Contributing to the development of the ECLOF International strategy for those countries.

The Regional Consultant may represent EI as a Board Member in local boards.

Key Job Tasks:

 

  • Report & update on all local Board meetings (in advance & after) & all key issues pertaining to the Board / Board Members.
  • Report & update on all key operational issues arising & ongoing in the Members
  • Report & provide the Member quarterly management accounts, together with a commentary on performance.
  • Prepare & submit loan applications on behalf of members to EI.
  • Prepare & submit to the Impact & Communication officer Member applications for technical assistance support, together with supporting rationale.
  • Prepare & submit performance updates as and when required by EI.
  • Support the Impact & Communication officer, as and when required, in respect of both funding & technical assistance information requests and queries.
Required Qualification and Competence:

 

  • Higher university degree
  • Significant work experience in financial sector consulting.
  • Experience in similar assignments in MFIs.
  • Fluency in English (Written and Spoken), Knowledge of an Asian language is an advantage.
  • Must be domiciled in Asia, with the ability to work remotely and travel on ad-hoc basis
  • Start Date: Immediate
