Mrs. Ssewanonda Agnes, mother of 5 adult children, is an agro-input dealer from Binyonyi Zone, Luweero district in Uganda. After starting her business in 2009, she enrolled in an ECLOF self-help group in 2011 and later graduated to an individual client eligible for larger loans.
Over the years, Mrs. Agnes has successfully diversified her business. Today, she runs two agricultural input shops, a poultry farm, and she has invested in farmland, which she rents out. Mrs. Agnes employs two workers.
Loans from ECLOF have helped her with working capital, something she needs to be able to offer sales credit to her farmer clients. Loans have also helped her invest in fixed assets.
According to Mrs. Agnes, “ECLOF has been a pillar that has supported my business to this day, even in difficult times. Prior to joining ECLOF, I had a working capital of 600,000 Ugandan shillings; today, it is 60 million! Due to ECLOF’s affordable credit, business advice, and training, I have been able to expand and diversify my business and provide for my children!”
